Urea 20%: Dermatology’s Quiet Hero for Very Dry Skin

Why the ingredient dermatologists reach for first deserves a place in your body care — and how 20% makes the difference.

Urea is one of skincare’s rare double agents: a humectant that draws water into the skin and, at higher concentrations, a keratolytic that gently loosens the rough, flaky layer that makes very dry skin feel tight.

Concentration is everything. At 5–10%, urea simply moisturises. At 20% — the level in our Moon Urea Body Cream — it starts to smooth: elbows, knees, heels and shins that no ordinary lotion seems to reach.

We blend it with Shea Butter so the formula comforts on contact while urea does the deeper work. Apply daily on slightly damp skin after showering and the change is usually visible within two weeks.

One pairing note: on areas where tone looks uneven, follow with our Body Brightening Cream. Smooth first, then brighten — the order matters, and the results compound.
